A method for the determination of cadmium in photographic materials by atomic absorption spectrochemical analysis which involves the extraction of cadmium with water and potassium cyanide solution has been established. The authors deter. mined cadmium in photographic films by this method with high sensitivity, precision and rapidity. Experimental error in the determination of standard samples was below 1%. The conditions recommended were: wavelength 2288 A, hollow cathode lamp current 6mA, slitwidth 1.0mm, acetylene flow 2.9<I>l</I>/min. and air flow 12.2<I>l</I>/mm.
