Spectrographic determination of beryllium in alloy consisting of Co, Ni, Cr, Mo, W, Mn, Ti, and Fe has been studied by the d. c. arc method. The line BeI 249.473 nm was used as the analytical line. The other spectral lines of beryllium in the wave length region of 230 to 350nm were unsuitable for analytical purpose, because they were subject to interference from spectral lines of other elements present in the alloy or the CN band spectra. An unidentified, interfering line appeared at 249.473 nm when the emission was carried out in the air. However, this interference could be eliminated by carrying out the emission in a nitrogen atmosphere. Beryllium contents ranging from 0.1 to 1.0% were determined with the coefficient of variation was 7 to 11%.
