The absorption spectra of the polymethacrylate films containing hexammincobalt (III) and copper (II) were measured at the room temperature and the liquid oxygen one, using Beckman Model DU Spectrophotometer and the special Dewar bottle constructed for this purpose.<BR>The shifts of the absorption maxima towards shorter wave length and ithe decreases in the intensities were observed at low temperature.<BR>The effect of temperature on the absorption spectra were discussed. Especially in the case of hexammincobalt (III), the change in the intensity was discussed applying the theory of Nicolle and Vodar that the absorption spectra are due to the transitions from one of the upper vibrational levels of the ground state. It was observed that the theory can explain our results quantitatively so far as we assume the existence of the vibrational level situated. 20 cm-1 upper from the lowest one. But, as the existence of this level is doubtful and moreover, as a selection rule by which all the tansitions from the lowest vibrational level are forbidden is unkown, our results will require another explanation.<BR>The composition of the complex formed between copper (II) and polymethacrylate ion is determined spectroscopically in aqueous solution, obtaining the result that our methacryrate radicals are coordinated to copper (II).
