Recent works on ethylene dianions and benzene dianions are reviewed. Silyl substituted dianions, [Li (thf)] <SUB>2</SUB> [(Me<SUB>3</SUB>Si) <SUB>2</SUB>C=C (SiMe<SUB>3</SUB>) <SUB>2</SUB>], [Li (thf)] <SUB>2</SUB> [(HMe<SUB>2</SUB>Si) <SUB>2</SUB>C=C (SiMe<SUB>2</SUB>H) <SUB>2</SUB>], [Li (dme)] <SUB>2</SUB> [(Me<SUB>3</SUB>Si) <SUB>2</SUB>C=C (SiMe<SUB>3</SUB>) Ph], [Li<SUB>2</SUB> (thf) <SUB>3</SUB>] [Me<SUB>3</SUB>Si) <SUB>2</SUB>C = CPh<SUB>2</SUB>], [Li (thf)] <SUB>2</SUB> [(Me<SUB>3</SUB>Si) <SUB>6</SUB>C<SUB>6</SUB>], and [Li (dme)] <SUB>2</SUB> [1, 2, 4, 5- (Me<SUB>3</SUB>Si) <SUB>4</SUB>C<SUB>6</SUB>H<SUB>2</SUB>], are reported. X-ray crystallographic analyses of these dilithium complexes revealed interesting features on the molecular structures. Silyl substituted cyclopentadienyllithium, [Li (C<SUB>7</SUB>H<SUB>13</SUB>N)] [(HMe<SUB>2</SUB>Si) <SUB>5</SUB>C<SUB>5</SUB>], is also described.
