Thermal decomposition of 2, 4-dichloro-6-a koxychloroisocyano-s-triazine, derived from chlorocyan tetramer (2, 4-dichloro-6-isocyanodichloro-s-triazine) above 140°c caused liberation of alkyl chloride easily and gave 2, 4-dichloro-6-isocyanate-striazine. This iso-cyanate was extremely unstable in the atmospheric moisture and decomposed immediately to 2, 4-dichloro-6-amino-s-triazine. The identification of this isocyanate was carried out by the following three methods : 1. Urethane was formed by the reaction with alcohol, 2. hydrolysis of 1 mol isocyanate gave 1 mol of ammelide, 1 mol carbon dioxide and two atoms of chlorine, and 3. infrared absorption spectra indicated the max. absorptions at 2, 260 cm<SUP>-1</SUP> - 2200 cm<SUP>-1</SUP> characteristic of isocyanate group.
