1, 4-Dichloro-6, 11-dihydroxynaphthacenequinone-5, 12 was synthesized from condensation of 1, 4-dihydroxynaphthalene and 3, 6-dichlorophthalic anhydride with boric anhydride as a condensation agent.Its acetylation gave 1, 4-dichloro-6, 11-diacetoxynaphthacenequinone-5, 12;oxidation with nitric acid gave 1, 4-dichloronaphthacenediquinone-6, 11;15, 12;and treating it with aniline gave 1, 4-dianilino-6, 11-dihydroxynaphthacenequinone-5, 12.
