A sequence of the formation of the laminary structure in the endocuticle newly formed after molting of a shore crab, G. depressus, was studied with the aid of lead acetate. 1. Clearcut lead marks running parallel to the surface of the exoskeleton are found to occur in the formed endocuticle. 2. The majority of the laminary structure of the endocuticle is formed rapidly within several days following molting and after that the speed of their formation gradually becomes to slow down with the lapse of time. Nevertheless, the newly formed endocuticle is completed within 10 days or so. 3. The laminary structure is not formed regularly by daily rhythm.
