No correlation was found to exist between the catch and the air-temperature or the amount of rain, although a significant positive correlation was observed to occur between the catch and the amount of snow in the fishing season (November-December) as shown in table 1. The catch is influenced by the conditions of wind ; northerly wind (NNE-NNW) and westerly one (WSW-WNW) at Wazima, Niigata, Akita and Aikawa give bad effect to the catch (Fig. 3), and on the contrary, east wind at Aikawa and Akita and south wind at Wazima and Niigata throw good condition to the catch (Fig. 2, C). The velocity of wind at Niigata causes much effect on the catch, strong wind (7m/sec. and above) being unfavourable for the catch (Table 2).
