A new way of addition of periblast nuclei after the gastrula stage, other than the fusion of marginal cells and the nuclear division, was found in embryos of a freshwater teleost, the medaka, Oryzias latipes. Some blastomeric cells which are directly contacted by periblast nuclei after the gastrula stage, even when the circulation and tail extension begin, are swollen both in cellular and nuclear size. Their nuclei often attain almost the same feature as the periblast nuclei in size, shape and staining. Cell boundary is also dim sometimes. The author considers that this is another way of addition of periblast nuclei.
