Sulfates of protamine type basic protein were prepared from bonito milt. The materials were purified through an activated alumina column or by 67% acetone fractionation of their picrates. A few kinds of amino acid, e. g., arginine, proline, valine, alanine, glycine, tyrosine and serine are found to be contained in the purified material through the alumina column. The molecule appears to consists of a single polypeptide chain having proline as the amino terminal residue. The molecular weight is estimated to be 5000-6000, based on the absorption spectrum of the DNP-derivative.
