Some species of fishes show positive reaction on a Black area or plate which is set at the bottom of an aquarium with the white inside. The reaction is accompanied with significant actions, that is, generally to peck at the black bottom in the feeding manner and sometimes to peck each other or fight. It also can be induced by sudden sound and the area become a terminal objective of flight reaction. The bearing of these results on a biological significance of the reaction and the behavior related to it is briefly discussed.
