Malignant Tumor of the Major Salivary Gland:A Retrospective Review of 18 Patients

Malignant tumor of the major salivary glands is not very common and its histological condition is varied. During the 10 years following 1971, 18 cases of malignant salivary gland tumors were seen in our department. Surgery as the first step of management was the routine approach used in our hospital for all patients presenting with tumor of the major salivary glands. Five-year cumulative survival rate calculated by the actuarial method was 56% for the primary cases which underwent curative treatment.
