In a patient with primary unipolar depression, core temperature, urine volume, urinary excretions of 5-HIAA, MHPG and electrolytes were measured and compared between the depressive and remitted phases. Some alterations in the daily patterns and the amounts of these variables were observed during the depressive phase. It remains to be established whether these changes are few results of the disease process itself or of the treatment with antidepressant drugs.
