• 1) Preoperative adrenal hyperactivity was reduced to normal after the resection of the primary intrathoracic malignancy. The result may support the possible presence of the ACTH-like substance in the tumor proposed by Christy, 26) Nichols8) and Marks.27)2) Plasma potassium which was within normal range prior to the operation showed a decrease in such a degree as to give rise to clinical manifestation, when the patient escaped from direct effect of surgical intervention.3) Considerations were made on the observed hypopotassemia, and its possible correlation with both corticosteroid abnormalities and pulmonary dysfunction were emphasized.
