This study deals with the first preliminary survey on a childhood population in Japan for rare (heritable) chromosome fragile site requiring bromodeoxyuridine (BrdU) in the culture medium for expression. A 12-year-old girl with BrdU requiring chromatid-type fragile site at 10q25 has been detected in a heterozygous fashion among 32 children who have no phenotypical abnormality.
