• Renal autotransplantation and/or extracorporeal renal surgery has been done in 17 patients, including 10 with renovascular hypertension, 3 with arteriovenous malformation and 4 with bilateral or solitary renal cell carcinoma. Based on our institutional experiences, indication and limitation for the operation are dis-cussed, and 3 particular cases are presented. Our conclusion is that renal auto-transplantation and extracorporeal reconstruction can provide the best solution for selected renal problems not correctable by conventional methods, although actual number of such cases is thought to be limited.
