Correlation by sex difference between maternal fostering attitudes and childrens personalities

The present paper investigates the differences in the way the mothers foster-ing attitudes influence the personality of boys and girls. A questionnaire survey was carried out for a total of 423 mother-three year o!d child couples. The survey revealed the following results. 1) Both boys and girls personalities cor-relate with their mothers fostering attitudes (p<0.05). 2) Boys personalities are more significantly influenced than girls by their mothers fostering attitudes. 3) Correlation between the childs personality and his mothers attitudes was higher for boys than girls in the following items; 1. tendency towards discord between parents, 2. contradiction, 3. tendency to give in to the childs demands, 4. active rejection, 5. severity. These items are arranged in order of the amount of difference. 4) There was a higher correlation between girls personalities and the maternal attitudes when those were 1. passive rejection and, 2. expection.It appeared that boys were influenced to a greater extent by their mothers fostering attitudes than girls were.
