Flow and Mixing Characteristics have been investigated for the lattice-type twinshaft high-viscosity agitator, which is capable of mixing liquids of viscosity as high as several thousand Pa·s.<BR>It is found that the liquid hold-up during agitation increases as the ratio of <I>Fr/ Re<SUB>M</SUB></I> increases, and the amount of liquid hold-up is given as a function of <I>Fr/ Re<SUB>M</SUB></I>.<BR>The longitudinal equivalent number of stages for perfectly mixing tanks was found to be almost independent of viscosity in the region of 0.15 kPa·s and was determined to be proportional to (<I>Re<SUB>F</SUB>/ Re<SUB>M</SUB></I>) <SUP>1/3</SUP>.
