Thin films of V<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>5</SUB> are deposited onto SnO<SUB>2</SUB>-coated glass substrates at a temperature of about 150°C by vacuum evaporation. Electrochromic cells with spacing of 100 μm are constructed. Color change from green to yellow is observed using lithium perchlorate (1 mole) in propylene carbonate solutions. The color change properties are found to be improved by a heat treatment at 300°C in atmospheric pressure.
