We have studied on the high temperature reaction of silica glass with Cu and Cu<SUB>2</SUB>O in vacuum. With high temperature microscope, we observed the contact angle between molten Cu and silica glass, changing Cu<SUB>2</SUB>O content in the liquid. We reached a conclusion of necessity of Cu<SUB>2</SUB>O in molten Cu in order to wet on the silica glass.
