For the analysis of particle size distribution of UO2, ZrOa and other substances, a y-ray counting method was applied to estimate the accumulative percentage of the particles at the bottom of sedimentation column. The sample materials were irradiated in J.R.R.-1 reactor and labelled with the radioactive isotopes formed by (n γ) reaction. The particle size distributions of UO<SUB>2</SUB> and ZrO<SUB>2</SUB> in the range of 0.05μ to 60μ were determined. The principles and the advantageous points of this method and the applications are also described.
