The influence of particle size distribution, specific surface area, mixing ratio of fine and coarse powder, and compacting pressure on the rate of sintering of tungsten metal powder was studied.<BR>It was found that the rate of sintering δ<SUB>i</SUB>-δ<SUB>o</SUB>/δ<SUB>t</SUB>-δ<SUB>o</SUB> (δ<SUB>o</SUB>: green density, δ<SUB>i</SUB>: sintered density, δ<SUB>t</SUB>: true density) is proportional to the specific surface area and is effected by particle size distribution of powder having the same average particle size, but not effected by packing density. The effect of compacting pressure upon the rate of sintering was not found and the densification rate decreased with increasing compacting-pressure.
