I-V characteristics were measured on a first trial thermionic converter composed of stainless steel emitter and of a collector which could he either stainless steel or nickel. The experimental characteristics were determined in the range of emitter temperature between 860 ?? and 1, 320 ?? and Cs pressure between 1×10-4 and 8.5×10-3mmHg.<BR> Data on the work functions of the stainless steel-Cs system are presented in their relation to energy conversion under relatively low temperature operation.
