Semi-Empirical Formulas for Microparameters δ<SUP>25</SUP>, δ<SUP>28</SUP>, ρ<SUP>28</SUP> in Water Moderated Slightly Enriched Uranium and Uranium Oxide Lattices

A linear relationship between the reciprocals of microparameters such as δ<SUP>25</SUP>, δ<SUP>28</SUP>, ρ<SUP>28</SUP> and effective moderator to fuel volume ratios was found to exist. Based on this relationship, semi-empirical formulas for the microparameters were derived, in a form represented by<BR>δ<SUP>25</SUP>=C<SUP>25</SUP><SUB>0</SUB>g(ω)/f•(W/U)+B<SUP>25</SUP>, <BR>where, C's and B's are constants empirically determined, f•(W/U) the effective moderator to fuel volume ratio, and g(ω) a function depending on fuel enrichment.<BR>These semi-empirical formulas can reproduce experimental data more effectively than conventional theoretical calculations.
