Equilibrium experiments were performed to determine thermally stable ranges of SrO⋅2FeO⋅8Fe<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB>(SrW) and SrO⋅FeO⋅7Fe<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB>(SrX) compounds under various oxygen partial pressures. The existence of SrO⋅eO⋅7Fe<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB>(SrX) compound was first verified in the present work.<BR>Upper limits of the stability ranges for SrW and SrX compounds determined by XRD were found to be expressed as follows:<BR>1) SrW compound<BR>SrW=Magnetite+Liq.+O2<BR>RTlnPo2=-227×10<SUP>3</SUP>+128.5T (cal/mol O<SUB>2</SUB>)<BR>2) SrX compound<BR>SrX=SrW+Liq.+O<SUB>2</SUB><BR>RTlnPo<SUB>2</SUB>=-214.5×10<SUP>3</SUP>+122.5T (cal/mol O<SUB>2</SUB>), <BR>where Po<SUB>2</SUB> is the oxygen partial pressure in atm unit, T is temperature in °C unit, and R is 1.9872 cal/(mol⋅K).<BR>Ferrous contents of SrW and SrX compounds increased with increasing temperature and with decreasing oxygen partial pressure. No significant changes in saturation magnetization were observed with variation of ferrous contents of SrW and SrX compounds.
