The author investigated many cases of congenital deaf-mutes, the greater number of them were obtained from the students of Miyagi Prefectural School for the deaf-mutes. The possibility of heredity was studied by means of pedigree method concerning to the direct hereditary, consanguineous marrige, half-blood, multiple appearance and collateral hereditary casee. Then the author performed hiometry test according to the method of Weinberg and Fu- ruya, the result being as follows : 100% among 41 individuals from 19 families, whose parents were congenital deaf-mutes, 46.15±9.78% among 12 individuals from 5 families, one of whose parents were congenital deaf-mutes, 21.14±1.38% among 169 individuals from 113 families, whose parents were heterozygote. The author concluded in these cases follow to the law of monomer recessive heredity.
