To study the effects of intense sound stimulation on ear-labyrinth right ear of rabbits were subjected to the acoustic stimuli with the white noise at 130 phon.Clinical and histopathological observation of the organ were wade and the following results were obtained.A) Clinical findings1) Spontaneous nystagmus was seen in many cases, and at first it was seen to be fowards the stimulated side, and afterwards towards the nonstimulated side, 2) Cupulogram was of the parallel-type, and there were directional preponderance to the left (non-stimulated side).3) Compensative eye-deviations were decreased to about 10°-15° in the lower position of the stimulated side.4) Head-position nystagmus was maximum in the lower position of the non-stimulated side, Morever, dilatation of the pupille, deviation of the ey-ball, and disapperance or decrease of the position reflex were found. From these results it was surmised that saccle was the site which most influenced by intense sound stimulation.B) Histologieal findings1) Representative findings at the cochlear labyrinth were degeneration of outer hair cell and removal or disapperane of the corti's organ at the second turn. Localisation of the Changes in the corti's organ was of particular interest.2) Spiral ganglion cells exhibited a slight degree of atrophy on the V group.3) Representative findings at the vestibular labyrinth were mainly changes of Saccule: Namely sinking of the saccular membran, atrophy or degeneration of the sensory cell, and exudation substance or bleeding of the endlymphatic cavity of saccule.Changes in the Utriclar macula and cupula, however, was not seen.
