The suitable type of platinum electrodes and the effects of electrolytes have been investigated fundamentally for studying the oxygen metabolism of various tissues.The results are as follows;1) When inorganic salts are used as electrolytes, multiterminal electrode is better than others on reproductivity and stability.2) The variation of current values is not remarkable in NaCl Solution of 0.1 to 0.9 per cent.3) When a Krebs Ringer solution containing more oxygen than a definite amount is used as medium, an electrode coated with polyethylene membrane must be used or 30min. is required from the time of setting when bare electrode areused in order to avoid the fall of current value.4) With the increase in the concentration of colloidal substances, a decrease in the current value of O2 is seen.
