The author observed a case with muco-epidermoid carcinoma of the left submaxillary gland. Six years ago, the patient had had the extirpation of a malignant tumor of his right submaxillary gland and ever since he seemed to take a favorable turn. It is very rare to see cancer of the submaxillary gland among cancers of salivary glands.In this case, the author considered this tumor to be localized and benign, however, histologically this proved to be malignant, and also the metastasis was found at the regional lymph nodes. Therefore, the lymph tissues were thoroughly extirpated at the operation. The post operative course was smooth and uneventful.Also in this report, the cases of the malignant tumors of the submaxillary glands that have been reported hitherto in Japan were listed, and, some discussions based on these studies of the past were made.
