喉頭に発生したいわゆる癌肉腫(Carcinosarcoma)の1症例

The patient was a 64 year old male with complaint of hoarseness. A polypoidal tumor was detected on the left vocal cord. This tumor was extirpated from the left vocal cord under laryngo-fissure. Detailed histopathological examinations of the tumor showed that the tumor was squamous cell carcinoma with the histological figures of so-called carcinosarcoma. The sarcomatous stroma like spindle cell sarcoma or fibrosarcoma were considered to be the high polymorphic and atypic changes of carcinoma cells. The patient refused the performance of laryngectomy, and was given a course of irradiation therapy of 12000 r by the telecobalt. The patient seems to be in favourable condition today 17 months after the operation. The cases of so-called carcinosarcoma of the larynx are rarely seen and only 20 reports of such cases are found in literature. All of these cases are not the cases of true carcinosarcoma. The case described in this paper is also so-called carcinosarcoma and not true carcinosarcoma.
