Two rare cases of dermatomyositis associated with rectal cancer are reported. Case 1: A 52-year old female complained of the helioeorope rash of the periorbital area, She was diagnosed as dermatomysitis. Rectal cancer was discovered as a result of extensive tumor search, and a low anterior resection was performed. She has had no symptoms of dermatomyositis since the operation. Case 2: A 47-year old man complained of the skin rash and the muscle weakeness of upper extremities. He was diagnosed as dermatomyositis and rectal camcer was discovered by an extensive tumor search. A peritoneosacral resection was performed, but he still needs a corticosteroid therapy to control symptoms of dermatomyositis. It is important to investigate a internal malignanyt at the time of onset of dermatomyositis.
