• A case of Salazopyrin (SASP) -induced allergic hepatitis, which developed during the treatment of ulcerative colitis (UC), is reported. A 28-year-old man was admitted because of abdominal pain, fever, nausea, vomiting, weight loss and diarrea. SASP was started to use under the diagnosis of UC. Transaminase and alkaline phosphatase elevated 13 days after SASP therapy and improved after SASP was discontinued. Lymphocyte stimulationtest was positive to SASP. <BR>Although the side effects of SASP appear in 30-40% of the patients, SASP-induced hepatitis is rare. To our knowledge, only 24 cases including the present one have been reported. <BR>A review of these cases is also presented in this report.
