Ambulatory activity, water drinking, UV and UCA of SHR in the dark phase elevated significantly as compared with those in the light phase. UNE and UE of SHR were significantly increased by cold exposure in both light and dark phases. GUANE, which does not cross blood brain barrier, produced a significant decrease in UNE in cold-stressed SHR. CLO and GUANF did not influence in the UCA in cold-stressed SHR. These findings suggest that the increased peripheral sympathetic tone appear to be responsible for the increased UNE brought about by cold exposure in SHR.
