We developed an automatic reduction control system using mini-computer for the blooming mill of special steel rolling, for the purpose of improving accuracy of quality control and efficiency management.The functions of the system are (1) automatic selection of the pass schedule according to the rolling size and steel grade, (2) automatic position control and lost control alarm, (3) irregularity control in rolling, (4) systematic control of related equipment, (5) automatic data gathering, and (6) tracking of material from discharge to blooming up.This system has been successfully running at Hoshizaki plant of Daido Steel Co., Ltd. since installed in March, 1987.
