Hen's skin, which had been unhaired or unfeathered with hot water, was used as experimental material. Experiments were carried out to determine its chemical composition, the characteristics of gelatin and oil prepared from it, and the tensile strength of chromed, tanned leather prepared from it. These properties were compared with those of rabbit skin. From the results obtained, it was elucidated that hen's skin was more useful as source of gelatin and edible oil than as that of leather.
