1. The influence of secondary conditions (process of water-culture, time of treatment, and temperature variation) upon the effect of colchicine treatment of the young tea shoots was examined.<BR>2. Colchicine treatment of the seedlings water-cultured in the petri-dish (Fig.1) was very effective for inducing polyploidy.<BR>3. It was observed that the best condition for inducing polyploidy was to treat tea seedlings during 180-240 hours, with dropping of 0.3% colchicine solution.<BR>4. Concerning the temperature during colchicine treatment, the larger the range of temperature variation the more effective the occurrence of polyploidy.
