1. In spite of the varietal difference, the respiration of tea-root system was increased as the temperature rose, and the physiological activities were activated.<BR>Generally speaking, those species having more vigor and adaptability had less respiratory activity and vice versa.<BR>2. According to cytological and morphological observations on the tea-root system, the thickening of cell-membrane and widening of intercellular space were noticed, by the respiratory injury. This phenomenon was remarkable at higher temperature. The tearoot, normally respiring, had not only more root-hairs, but also thinnerr cell-membrane and narrower intercelullar space.
