Recent development of emissive transition metal complexes involves synthesis of various copper(I) and gold(I) complexes that reveals attracting emissive nature of monovalent group 11 metal complexes. Although the development of silver(I) complexes has not been expanding so rapidly as gold(I) and copper(I) complexes, a considerable number of researches reporting the emissive properties of silver(I) complexes appeared in this decade. In this article, emissive silver(I) complexes, together with the copper(I) or gold(I) congeners if available, are classified by their coordination environments to achieve a general idea to control the emissive properties by ligands and structures. π-Donating/accepting properties and available low-lying π* orbitals and metal-metal interactions appear to be important for phosphorescent silver(I) complexes.
