Principle and test experience of the Oxide Pyro-Process being developed at Research Institute of Atomic Reactors (RIAR, Russia) to process Fast Breeder Reactors spent MOX fuels were reviewed. Attention was paid to the thermodynamics and kinetics of fundamental chemical reactions and to the electrochemical properties of elements included in spent MOX fuel in the molten salts. Published data of actinides, fission products, and components of cladding or other structural materials were evaluated by means of comparison and analysis.
