1H-NMR measurements show that the modes of hydrogen-bonding interaction of C-tetraundecenylresorc[4]arene with the guest molecules are classified into four groups, depending on whether the guest molecule is a hydrogen-bond donor, a hydrogen-bond acceptor or works as both donor and acceptor.
