This paper aims to clarify how the Ritsu sect prevailed in Kawachi province, the eastern part of Osaka district, focusing on Kyokoji-temple and Kanko-ji temple. In the Middle Ages, both of them belonged to the Ritsu sect and were the branch temples of Saidaiji temple in Nara. Kyokoji-Temple is still one of the branch temples of Saidaii temple. The restoration of Kyokoji-temple was begun in 1268 by Eizon who was the founder of the Ritsu sect. Eizon endeavored to reconstruct Kyokoji-temple and succeeded in it by getting his followers' support. The bell, moved from Kyokoji-temple to Kongobuji temple in Nara prefecture and still remains at the temple, tells how Kyokoji-temple was reconstructed. Kanko-ji temple was famous for the big Gorin stupa built by Kyonen in 1316.Kyonen might be a lay follower of Saidaiji temple. Kyonen came to Kanko-ji temple, made fund raising and built the big Gorin stupa. Through such econstruction, these two temples became the branch temples of Saidaiji temple.
