Algebraic computation system which operates on general-purpose computer has been widely used in the fields of physics and mathematics. In this article, an application of algebraic computation system, "REDUCE", which operates on personal computer to the theory of the screw thread analysis is reported. Through this application, approximate formulas expanded in a series are derived from a transcendental equation of a certain variable. The complicated procedure of the expanding method is made easy and quick by the successuful application of algebraic computation system which operates on personal computer. Also more accurate approximating formulas are now obtainable.
