The purpose of this study was to test the effect of the proportion of reinforcement upon programmed learning and performance of children with different IQs. Sixty-four primary school children were devided into 9 experimental groups on the basis of scores on readiness test and pretest. Ss in 3 groups used a programmed text book given KCR (knowledge of correct response) for all of 47 responses. (All reinforcement learning : A condition )Ss in another 3 groups used a programmed text book given KCR for only 24 responses of 47 responses, not given KCR for rest responses. (Partially reinforcement learning : P condition) Ss in the last 3 groups used a programmed text book nothing KCR for all responses. (No reinforcement learning : N condition) Each condition was consisted of three IQ grades groups : High, Middle, Low. The main finding was that for children with high IQ, A condition was superior to P condition and N condition, and P condition was superior to N condition on posttest score and learning progression score, in spite of no difference in correct answer ratio during programmed learning process. On the other hand, for children with middle and low IQ, A and P condition were superior to N condition both on the posttest score and progression score and in correct answer ratio during programmed learning process. But, A condition was not significantly superior to P condition. In short, different rates of KCR had different effects upon learning and performance of children with high IQ, while to present KCR was effective upon those of chilren with middle and low IQ.
