The contradictoriness of the present public is seen concentratedly in the relation between productive labor and scientific. Besides, a movement toward improving productive effeciency is going on, while the problems of innovation of technic are being discussed. Therefore the theme of the educational theory of productive technic is how we should deal with technic and labor as the problem of education under such a fundamental tendency of the society. In this thesis, various views on education are examined historically in regard to industry Among them are commendation of diligence (an utilitarian view of Yukichi Fukuzawa), 'Arbeitsschule' for training the nation, a spiritualistic education of productive technic under the movement to do a patriotic service through production, and consumptive 'industrial arts', an educational theory of 'productionism' to answer the problem of the people. Educational views of 'diligence first' of prewardays had nothing to do with systematic understanding of scientific technic. A worker then was quite foreign to scientific understanding of the society and it was good enough for him to depend solely on 'hand' labor. A golden slogan of the war time, 'Do things scientifically' meant nothing but 'Get skill and master it'. After the war, as the result of improvement of 'vocational' education, skills useful for daily life have been taught. On the other hand, an educational practice whose chief item is the problem of productive labor has been carried on with activities of educational research to back it.
