This paper is a theoretical and practical study of the growth process of Korean semiconductor firm management.Previous studies of technology management, strategic management and organization theory are reviewed with suggestions for overcoming their limitations. Especially,a critical view of the importance of Learning Curve Effect in the semiconductor industry is presented in this paper. Moreover, strategic management theory, RBV, and theInstitutional Perspective of organization theory are widely reviewed,and the semiconductor company management is analyzed from a new point of view.This paper particularly describes the process of survival and growth related to Korean semiconductor company management (Samsung Electronics Co.,Lt d. and Hynix Co.,L td) during a period of rapid business environment change. The implications obtained from the case study suggest management practices that were useful not only inSouth Korea but also in the management of other semiconductor companies in Europe,America and Japan.
