The present authors conducted some fundamental e x periments on Oleandomycin, examined its clinical efficacy and reached the following conclusions: 1) Oleandomycin exerted antimicrobial ef f ects on staphylococci which were resistant to penicillin, streptomycin, chlortetracycline, oxytetracycline, erythromycin, etc., and there was no cross resistance exhibited between Oleandomycin and these antibiotics. 2) After administration, blood level reached the peak at t wo to three hours effective blood level was maintained up to six to eight hcurs. 3) The amount excreted in the urine w a s 36 mg at six hours after administration. Excretion through the feces might also be large in amount. 4) Of 24 cases of urinary tract infection, the co u rse 18 was able to be followed. Efficacy was noticeable in all of them. Nevertheless, the efficacy seemed to be slightly inferior in the cases of E. coli infection. There were observe d no side effects in the presentseries .
