Nitrous oxide in the atmosphere was measured for the first time in Japan. 1l air sample was concentrated to a GC sample tube and analyzed by GC with an active carbon column. Nitrous oxide concentration near the ground was 0.2ppm to 0.5ppm, in which the low level may be a constant values of the atmosphere. It's also the samelevelcomparedwith the rneasurementsin USA and Europe. Nitrous oxide, which was found to generate by the bacteria in the sea andthe ground, was not related to the human activity for example auto exhaust or boiler exhaust. Therefore Nitrous oxide may be suitable to represent the degree of air stagnation.
