カントの《実験的方法》再考--『純粋理性批判』第二版序文における「実験」の射程について

カントの方法は解釈上しばしば《実験的方法》として語られるが，本論は，その解釈のもととなる『純粋理性批判』第二版序文の7例の「実験Experiment」の用例の検討を通じて，改めてカントにおける「実験」の意義を探る．カント周辺の実験理解，カント自身の用例，および後世の実験理解などを手掛かりとした考察によって明らかになるのは次の点である．すなわち，序文の「実験」のうち，《対象が認識にしたがう》というカントの思想内容に関連した《投げ入れ》の用例は，従来の諸解釈が重視するほどにはカント解釈にとっても実験概念そのものにとっても有益ではないということ．むしろ，理論・仮説の《検証》に関わる用例にこそカントの創意が見られるということ．経験科学における実験との類比によってカントは超経験的な認識に関わる形而上学のための実験的検証という自身の構想を語るだけでなく，「実験」の語に即してそうした認識の検証のための状況設定や検証基準などについても論じており，これは今日なお傾聴に値する論点であるように思われる．In this article I comment on the seven places in which the term 'Experiment' is used in the Second Preface of Kant's Critique of Pure Reason (1787) . While scholars have interpreted these uses in accordance with the so-called 'experimental method' in the modern natural sciences, I focus here on research into uses of the term 'Experiment' by Kant and his contemporaries, in order to clarify Kant's own intention and contribution. Kant uses the term 'Experiment' in the second preface in connection with two aspects, i. e., the central thought of the 'Critique' itself and the method of verification. The former has been much discussed especially with regards to Kant's so-called 'Copernican Revolution'(or 'Expemental- Hineinlegen,' particularly in Japanese Kant interpretation since Kousaka (1929) , but this discussion has not contributed much to the understanding of experiment itself, nor to textual interpretation. The latter aspect, on the other hand, demonstrates Kant's ingenuity. This second kind of experiment verifies the metaphysical, just as empirical experiment verifies the physical. Moreover, Kant addresses the circumstances under which the experiment is carried out, and recognizes them as necessary for verification of the metaphysical hypothesis. Considering the situation of metaphysics today, there may be lessons to be learned from Kant's procedure.
