Reflection is so important in the process of teacher development. It is the style for teachers to learn about teaching through reflecting about their own classes. The study of the process how teachers develop in their own field is necessary. The purpose of this study is to understand how this development occurs in the case of a home economics junior high school teacher.Method: Author tried to interpret the process of home economics teacher development in junior high school through observation and discussion for six months. The teacher and observer had two step discussions. The first step discussion took place after c1asses. The second step discussion took place after listening to tapes of all the first discussion. The second discussion was cal1ed "critical reflection".Result and discussion: In the first discussion, the home economics teacher talked about the following 3 points ; ① self-evaluation ② hesitation and worry ③ about the subject of home economics. The teacher clearly realized her hesitation and worries, through "critical reflection",and she began to think about the meaning of "practice" in home economics. The home economics teacher developed using the following process; At first, the home economics teacher gets some expectation and judgment from colleagues who teach other subjects. She feels some conflicts about that. These conflicts arose from the gap between the ideal home economics teacher and her real self. These conflicts threaten her identity as at eacher, but it is a big opportunity in that she ensures her ideas about the goals in home economics.
