A simple luminescence quenchng method proposed by Turro and Yekta was applied to determine the aggregation numbers of cationic dodecyltrimethylammonium bromide (DTAB) and nonionic polyoxyethylene dodecyl ether (Brij 35) micelles. The satisfactory results are obtained when pyrene is used as luminescence probe, and p-tert-pentylphenoxide ion and N, N-dimethylaniline as quenchers in DTAB and Brij 35 solutions, respectively.
